2nd ASEAN-G.C.C. Summit
27/05/2025

While attending the 2nd ASEAN-G.C.C. Summit, His Majesty in a titah emphasized the need for peace and stability on critical geopolitical issues in striving for a sustainable future. In this regard, His Majesty commended G.C.C. countries' ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue between Russia and Ukraine and their support for Palestine. His Majesty further emphasised the importance of continuing to uphold a rules-based international order, adhering to U.N Security Council resolutions and the findings of the International Court of Justice, all of which contributes to a more peaceful world. In the titah, His Majesty expressed the view that the convening of the Summit is timely as both regions navigate an uncertain global landscape characterized by major power rivalries and rising trade protectionism. As such, ASEAN and the G.C.C. are encouraged to build upon the positive outcomes of the First ASEAN-G.C.C. Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to enhance economic opportunities and strengthen resilience against shared challenges.

His Majesty further encouraged officials to oversee the implementation of the ASEANG.C.C. Framework of Cooperation and welcomed collaboration in climate change and the digital economy, acknowledging that the G.C.C.'s leadership in renewable energy offers valuable opportunities for ASEAN to create sustainable energy systems. His Majesty in the titah added that there is merit for ASEAN and the G.C.C. to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation and human resources development.
